AAA reports National Gas Price Average Stabilizes

AAAWashington, D.C. – The national gas price average rose two cents on the week to $3.19, matching a seven-year-high last seen in early August.

While the post-Labor Day period usually sees less demand and lower gas prices, this year, the impact of Hurricane Ida, followed two weeks later by Hurricane Nicholas, has slowed oil production and refinery recovery along the Gulf Coast.

Gas Price Average in Tennessee Drops Two Cents

AAANashville, TN – The Tennessee gas price average declined slightly over last week, falling nearly two cents, on average. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $2.89 which is nearly a penny more expensive than one month ago and 95 cents more than one year ago. 

“Timing is everything, and while supplies have tightened due to the slow recovery after Hurricane Ida, this is also the point when gas demand starts its seasonal decline,” said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “While there may be some price fluctuation, we expect most motorists to see stability at the pump.”

AAA reports Tennessee Gas Prices Increased 1.5 Cents From Last Week

Clarksville-Montgomery County has the Least Expensive Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAATampa, FL Tennessee Gas Prices  increased 1.5 cents during the past week. So far, motorists have found the most expensive summer gas prices in four years. Since June 1st, Tennessee gas prices averaged $2.64 per gallon – an increase of nearly 60 cents compared to the average price last summer.

However, current pump prices remain 12 cents below this year’s high, set during Memorial Day weekend.

AAA says Tennessee Gas Prices Drop 7 cents in 12 days

AAANashville, TN Motorists are seeing steady discounts at the gas pump. Tennessee gas prices have declined the last 12 consecutive days for a total of 7 cents.

During the past week, the state average dropped 5 cents. Sunday’s state average of $2.34 is 1-cent less than a month ago, yet 27 cents more than this time last year.

Clarksville-Montgomery County has Third Highest Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN The steady stream of declining gas prices continued last week.  However, the rate at which prices are declining is beginning to slow, and pump prices should soon level out. 

Tennessee gas prices declined for the 49th consecutive day on Sunday, for a total discount of 34 cents. The state average only declined 2 cents last week. That is a stark contrast to previous weeks, where the total decline was 7-10 cents.

AAA reports Pump Prices Continue to Recover Amidst Busy Hurricane Season

AAATampa Bay, FL – The average price at the pump has fallen for 15 of the last 20 days, for a total savings of seven cents per gallon.

The national average currently sits at $2.46 per gallon, which is one cent less than one week ago, 12 cents less than one month ago and 24 cents more year-over-year. The national average is down 17 cents per gallon versus the 2017 peak price reached in September ($2.67).

Clarksville-Montgomery County has Second Highest Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN Tennessee gas prices have been on a steep slide for the last three weeks and should drift even lower this week. The state average declined for the 28th consecutive day on Sunday, dropping a total of 20 cents during that time. 

Tennessee motorists are paying an average of $2.39 at the pump, an 8 cent discount from last week.

AAATampa, FL Gas prices spiked during the past week in response to Hurricane Harvey’s impact on the fuel refining region in the Gulf Coast.
