New TBI report details Firearm-Related Crime in Tennessee

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released a report today detailing the nature and volume of reported firearms-related crime across the state over a four-year period.
The report, “Firearm Violence in Tennessee: 2013-2016,” utilizes data submitted by the state’s law enforcement agencies through the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System (TIBRS).
Tennessee Department of Health Corrects Accidental Gunshot Death Data

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health confirmed today that a data error resulted in inaccurate accidental gunshot death numbers for 2014 being reported.
After manually reviewing death certificates, TDH reports five people died from accidental gunshot wounds in the state in 2014.

Jackson, TN – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death this afternoon of a TBI Special Agent during the course of an ongoing drug investigation.
Preliminary information indicates Special Agent De’Greaun Frazier was one of several agents working alongside the Metro Narcotics Unit during a controlled buy this afternoon around 2:00pm in a vehicle in the area of Brianfield Cove.
