Trapping for Falconry Usage Only
Nashville, TN – The 2021 application period for the trapping of a peregrine falcon to be used in falconry will begin July 1st, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced.
The number of permits to be allowed for the taking of peregrine falcons to be used in falconry is three this year as allowed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The TWRA will award the permits to the winners of a draw to be held on Wednesday, August 25th.

2017 Application Period Underway for Peregrine Falcon Trapping for Falconry Usage

Nashville, TN – The 2017 application period for the trapping of a peregrine falcon to be used in falconry is underway, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced.
The TWRA will award the one permit to the winner of a draw to be held on Wednesday, August 30th, 2017. Falconers may go to TWRA’s website by clicking here for the print-ready application and also view the requirements. Resident and non-resident master and general falconers are eligible for participation in the draw. Completed applications must be postmarked by Wednesday, August 9th.

Nashville, TN – The 2014 application period for the trapping of a peregrine falcon to be used in falconry is underway, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced.

Peregrine Falcon captured in Tennessee

Nashville, TN – The first Peregrine falcon has been trapped in Tennessee in more than 50 years on the banks of the Mississippi River by a Carroll County resident. Tennessee was awarded one permit by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service allowing the trapping of one Peregrine falcon for the use in falconry beginning in 2011 in selected West Tennessee counties.
Brian Brown, of Clarksburg, made the historic capture on a Friday afternoon at around 2:30pm. He used a Dho-ghazza net and lured the Peregrine he has named “Belle.” He brought the bird to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency in Nashville for the proper processing.
Tennessee Awarded Permit to allow trapping of one Peregrine Falcon for use in Falconry

Nashville, TN – This year, for the first time, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has awarded Tennessee one permit allowing the trapping of one Peregrine falcon for the use in falconry.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will award this permit to the winner of a draw to be held on Wednesday, August 31st, 2011.
