AAANashville, TN – AAA says gas prices across Tennessee jumped nearly 18 cents over last week in response to the recent Colonial Pipeline shutdown that led to a deluge of demand for gasoline as well as tight gasoline supply across the Southeast.

The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $2.89 which is 19 cents more than one month ago and $1.27 more than one year ago.

AAA says National Gas Price Average to climb this week due to Colonial Pipeline shutdown

AAAWashington, D.C. – On the week, the national gas price average jumped six cents to $2.96. If the trend continues, an increase of three more cents would make the national average the most expensive since November 2014 –the last time we saw average prices at $2.99 and higher.

AAA forecasts gas prices to climb this week in reaction to the shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline, which delivers approximately 45% of all fuel to the East Coast.

AAA reports April Saw Small Pump Price Changes, Larger Increases Likely in May

AAAWashington, D.C. – At the start of May, the national gas price average is $2.90, which is three cents more than a month ago.

Pump prices in April saw minimal variability compared to March, which increased 15 cents from start to finish. Stable crude oil prices amid fluctuating demand helped keep the national average price jumps nominal last month.

AAA reports Tennessee Gas Prices remain Steady

AAANashville, TN – The Tennessee gas price average held steady over the last week with the state average remaining unchanged from the previous week. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $2.69 which is the same as one month ago and $1.15 more than one year ago. 

“While April saw minimal fluctuation, May is likely to see much larger increases alongside demand spikes, especially closer to Memorial Day weekend,” said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Compared to May 2019, U.S. gasoline demand is down only 4% and gas prices are, on average, just two cents more.”

Tennessee has some of the Cheapest Gas Prices in the Country

AAAWashington, D.C. – At 9.1 million b/d, United States gasoline demand recorded its second-highest measurement since mid-March 2020, indicating that motorists are filling up more often.

This latest demand reading is the highest spring number released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) in two years. In fact, it is only about 3% below the same week in 2019.

AAANashville, TN – The Tennessee gas price average continues to trend upward, climbing six cents over last week. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $1.98 which is 12 cents more than one month ago and 34 cents less than one year ago. 

“The recent gas price pump increases are a bit surprising given December demand numbers are the lowest posted for the month since 1999,” said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Rising crude oil prices and tightening supply are the main factors contributing to the uptick in pump prices.”

AAA says Gasoline Demand Declines for Fourth Straight Week

AAAWashington, D.C. – AAA reports that since the beginning of November, U.S. gasoline demand has softened.

The Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) data shows demand measured at 8.7 million b/d for the week ending November 6th. In their latest report, for the week ending December 4th, demand measured at 7.6 million b/d. That is the lowest reading since the end of May and marks four weeks of straight decline.

Clarksville-Montgomery County has the 3rd Cheapest Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN – Tennessee gas prices, on average, are nearly two cents cheaper heading into the Thanksgiving holiday. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $1.85 which is nearly seven cents less than one month ago and nearly 46 cents less than one year ago. 

“Typically, cheaper gas prices are an incentive for people to travel during a holiday weekend, but that is just not the case this year,” said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group.

AAA reports Tennessee Gas Price Average drops another Two Cents

November 12, 2020

AAANashville, TN – The Tennessee gas price average continues to decline and has dropped two cents over last week. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $1.85 which is nine cents less than one month ago and nearly 51 cents less than one year ago. 

Tennessee’s state gas price average has declined the past 27 consecutive days for a total discount of nine cents.
