AAA reports National Gas Price Average Stabilizes

August 20, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – New data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that gas demand and supply decreased.

Moving from 9.78 million b/d to 9.43 million b/d last week, the latest demand measurement is 500,000 b/d lower than the rate at this time in 2019, signaling that summer gas demand is likely softening as the school year starts and concerns about transmission of COVID-19 Coronavirus grow as infection rates continue to increase.

AAA reports Tennessee Gas Price Average drops almost Two Cents

August 19, 2021

AAANashville, TN – The Tennessee gas price average declined slightly over last week, falling nearly two cents, on average. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $2.87 which is a penny less than one month ago and 97 cents more than one year ago.

“Leading up to Labor Day, pump price fluctuations are likely to continue due to high crude oil prices,” said Megan Cooper, spokesperson, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Traditionally, gas demand typically drops considerably at the end of the summer which brings much-needed relief at the pump to drivers in the fall and winter driving seasons.”

AAA reports National Gas Price Average Jumps to Highest Price of the Year

August 11, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – Crude oil prices dropped below $70.00/bbl at the end of last week in reaction to concerns about the delta variant, growing COVID-19 Coronavirus case numbers, and the possibility of potential lockdowns. While crude is a little cheaper, gas prices are still positioned to remain high in August.

Today’s national average is $3.19. That is the most expensive gas price average of the year as well as $1.02 more than a year ago, a nickel more than a month ago, and two cents more than a week ago.

AAA reports National Gas Price Average Drops Some as Crude Oil Prices undergo Dramatic Fluctuation

July 30, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – Motorists saw some positive change at the pump on the week with 31 state gas price averages declining one to five cents. The national gas price average pushed two cents cheaper to $3.15. One factor contributing to the decline was U.S. gasoline demand remaining relatively flat on the week.

At this point, it is too early to say if cheaper pump prices will be sustained or continue their downward trend. Part of the unknown is due to fluctuating crude prices, which dropped to a low of $66.00/bbl last Monday, but were back over $70.00/bbl by the end of the week.

National Gas Average increased 13 Cents since Memorial Day Holiday

July 22, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – Since Memorial Day weekend, the national gas price average has increased 13 cents to $3.17. That is 98 cents more than a year ago, but 41 cents cheaper than this time in July 2014, when the national average was last above $3.00/gallon.

One of the primary reasons for more expensive gas prices this summer is high crude oil prices. However, last week crude prices fluctuated from a high of $75,00/bbl down to $71,00/bbl.
