Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Commissioner Clay Bright announced today the award of $10,328,312 Transportation Alternatives Grants statewide in Tennessee.
Tennessee’s Community, Technical Colleges assist in project to help protect Health Professionals

Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s community and technical colleges are playing a major role in a crash project by the state’s public higher education system to manufacture face shields to help protect Tennessee health professionals during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Using 3D printers, Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology at Elizabethton, Jackson, Morristown, Murfreesboro and Shelbyville, and Jackson State and Pellissippi State community colleges manufactured 858 headbands from Saturday through Monday afternoon that will be used for plastic face shields.
Effort produces over 1500 pieces of protective equipment in three days.

IMPROVE Act creates the Largest Tax Cut in Tennessee History
Elizabethton, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam today highlighted the 20 percent reduction to the grocery tax included in the newly implemented IMPROVE Act by visiting local grocery stores in Elizabethton and Mount Juliet.
Effective July 1st, 2017 the IMPROVE Act, “Improving Manufacturing, Public Roads and Opportunities for a Vibrant Economy,” creates the largest tax cut in state history while delivering a safe, reliable and debt-free transportation network.

Nashville, TN — As families gather to celebrate Thanksgiving Day this week, the occasion marks the two-year anniversary of the launch of the State Fire Marshal’s Office “Get Alarmed Tennessee” smoke-alarm distribution program, which has helped create the single largest fire mortality rate reduction in state history.
On November 27th, 2012, the State Fire Marshal’s Office began the “Get Alarmed Tennessee” program by giving the program’s first 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms to the Elizabethton Fire Department in Elizabethton,Tennessee. [Read more]
