Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission Meeting gives update on Asian Carp, Duck Hunters Survey, Annual Awards

Humphreys County, TN – An update on Asian carp, results of a recent Tennessee duck hunters survey, and annual divisional awards presentations were among the business conducted at the October meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission.
The one-day meeting was held Friday in the Tom and Wendy Beasley Education Center at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Buffalo Ridge Refuge. It was the TFWC’s first formal meeting at Buffalo Ridge Refuge which comprises about 2,000 acres in southern Humphreys County.
Chicks and Ducklings are Risky Easter Gifts

Nashville, TN – Baby chicks and ducklings are cute and fluffy, but they aren’t appropriate gifts for Easter. Holding, hugging, or kissing these birds can pose a serious health risk for all ages.
Live poultry commonly carry Salmonella bacteria. While not harmful to the birds, when humans handle birds, the bacteria can spread and cause extreme abdominal upset. In severe cases, the illness requires hospitalization and can be fatal.
Eagle Viewing Opportunities at Land Between The Lakes

Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – During January and February, van tours and Kentucky Lake cruises will take visitors to several bald eagle viewing hot spots around the 170,000-acre Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area.
In addition to bald eagles, visitors will likely see native wildlife such as ducks, turkeys, deer, and herons. Land Between The Lakes partners with Kenlake State Resort Park to host a weekend of brunch and lunch cruises on Kentucky Lake January 16th-18th on the CQ Princess, a 96-foot luxury yacht.
