Crude Oil Prices Spike Following Attacks on Saudi Arabian Oil Facilities

September 16, 2019

AAATampa, FL – On the week, the national gas price average held steady at $2.56, but motorists can expect some volatility at the pump in the coming days and weeks.

Over the weekend, Saudi Arabia experienced drone attacks on two major oil facilities – including the world’s largest, Abqaiq. The attacks have taken 5.7 million (crude) barrels per day off the market, accounting for about 6% of the global supply.

National Gas Price Average for Labor Day on Track to Be Cheapest in Three Years

August 27, 2019

AAATampa, FL – At $2.59, AAA says the national gas price average is poised to be potentially the cheapest Labor Day weekend average in three years. Today’s average is already nearly a quarter cheaper than during last year’s holiday ($2.83) and four cents cheaper than 2017’s Labor Day ($2.63).

“For Americans who bookend summer with road trips, they will find gas prices this coming weekend that are cheaper than this past Memorial Day and last year’s Labor Day holiday,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

Gas Price Averages Inching Up Amid Rising Demand

January 30, 2019

AAA

AAATampa, FL – Many motorists filling up across the country are noticing gas prices that are increasing slightly. While nearly 25 states’ averages increased on the week, the national average is only a penny more than a week ago at $2.26.

The fluctuating national and state gas price averages come alongside an increase in gasoline demand and reflect the higher crude oil prices as of late, but it’s likely not to be a long-term trend.

AAATampa, FL Tennessee gas prices averaged $2.59 on Sunday. See today’s price

The state average is the same as last week, and 22 cents less than the national average. However, Tennessee motorists are paying 47 cents more per gallon than this time last year.

The rising price of oil may drag gas prices higher this week. Oil prices reached a new 2018 high, on the belief that President Trump may pull out of the Iran Nuclear Deal. Such a move would likely reinstate sanctions, resulting in reduced global supply, and higher fuel prices.
