TWRA announces 2020-21 Gun Hunting Season for Deer Opens November 21st

Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s 2020-21 statewide gun hunting season for deer opens Saturday, November 21st. Deer gun season has the traditional opening date of the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. During gun season, sportsmen may also use muzzleloader or archery equipment. The season will continue through January 3rd, 2021.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s 2017-18 gun hunting season for deer opens Saturday, November 18th, 2017. Deer gun season has the traditional opening date of the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving.
During gun season, sportsmen may also use muzzleloader or archery equipment. The season will continue through January 7th, 2018 and the second Young Sportsman Hunt is January 13th-14th.
TWRA announces 2015-16 Gun Hunting Season for Deer opens November 21st

Nashville, TN – One of Tennessee’s long-standing annual outdoors traditions begins Saturday, November 21st with the opening of the 2015-16 gun hunting season for deer. Deer gun season has the permanent opening date of the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving.
The biggest change for hunters in 2015-16 is the statewide bag limit for antlered deer is now two. The number includes those taken during the archery only, muzzleloader, and gun seasons. [Read more]
2011-12 Hunting Seasons approval among TWRA’s May Agenda Items

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission will set the state’s 2011-12 hunting seasons at its upcoming meeting on May 19th-20th at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Ray Bell Region II Building.
TWRA officials previewed their recommendations for the 2011-12 hunting and trapping seasons at the commission’s April meeting. The recommendations feature several significant changes. [Read more]
