TWRA to hold 2015 Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshop June 5th-7th

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will host the 2015 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshop June 5th-7th in Crossville at the Clyde M. York 4-H Center.
The relaxed atmosphere of the BOW workshop is primarily aimed at women, and is an opportunity for those 18 or older to learn outdoor skills usually associated with hunting and fishing. [Read more]

Golden Pond, KY – At Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area, Woodlands Nature Station (NS), The Homeplace (HP), and Golden Pond Planetarium (PL) offer a variety of daily programs about nature, history, and the universe.
Special Events focus on a specific educational topic like preserving old-time music at the Homeplace’ s Pickin’ Party, unique wildlife at the Nature Station’s Cool and Crawly Critters Day, and the Planetarium’s FREE Astronomy Day.
TWRA to hold First Becoming An Outdoors-Woman Extreme Workshop October 4th-6th

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will host the first Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) Extreme Workshop October 4th-6th at the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.
Held in a rural and scenic area, participants will be able to take three classes, choosing from horseback riding, canoeing/fishing, Dutch oven cooking, rock climbing, and 3-D archery over the weekend. Other activities and programs will be held as well. [Read more]

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency responds to Gold Mining concerns in Tennessee Streams and Rivers

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has received a series of complaints recently from various recreational users concerning dredging activities on the Little River in Blount County.
Complaints are centered on practices that include the use of suction dredges to excavate large holes in the river bottom, and the discharge of muddy water downstream from dredging activities. Also, there has been the blanketing of shoals with sediment, petroleum products on the water, and the use of high pressure hoses to blast holes in the river bank. [Read more]

22nd Annual Event to Loop through Beautiful Middle Tennessee;
Registration Deadline Extended to September 1st
Nashville, TN – With less than a month away, bicycle enthusiasts across the state are encouraged to register for the Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee, slated for September 10th-17th. In its 22nd year, this year’s seven-day ride will feature a loop through some of Middle Tennessee’s most stunning landscapes.
Originating at Montgomery Bell State Park, this year’s route will feature a combination of rolling hills, valleys and some flat terrain. Cyclists can expect to experience beautiful, rural Tennessee scenery and interesting back roads along the way, including the Natchez Trace Parkway and visits to several Tennessee State Parks such as Dunbar Cave.
