TWRA announces Antlerless Deer Hunting available on Private Lands only in L Counties, January 8th-12th

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced that antlerless deer hunting will be allowed on all privately owned lands in Unit L counties January 8th-12th, 2018. This is the third year for the five days of hunting following the completion of the deer season on January 7th.

Privately owned lands include leased land and lands owned by individuals.

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service reports it is expected to be seasonably warm and humid this weekend. Clouds and thunderstorms will help to keep afternoon high temperatures mainly in the 80s.

However, by next Tuesday you can expect more sunshine and fewer storms, as a result, you can expect high temperatures to push into the the lower and middle 90s, with afternoon heat index values forecast to soar to between 100 and 103 degrees across much of Middle Tennessee.

Program to Provide Improved Access to Tennessee Rivers and Streams

Tennessee Department of TransportationNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency are excited to announce the launch of a new program designed to improve access to Tennessee’s waterways. The Park and Float Program will increase recreational opportunities across the state by providing parking areas and access points at rivers and streams along the state’s roadways.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRAUnder the Park and Float initiative, TDOT and TWRA established a list of candidate streams and rivers for the program. Some of the locations have been created at existing bridges, while others will be created when a TDOT bridge project is initiated on a stream or river on the Park and Float candidate waters list. Many of the newly created access areas will require minimal construction because bridge projects often have haul roads that will simply be left in place. [Read more]
