U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District extends campgrounds closure through end of May

Nashville, TN – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is extending its closure of 25 Corps-managed campgrounds within the Cumberland River Basin in Kentucky and Tennessee through at least May 31 in the interest of public safety due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
While an official date for the reopening of campgrounds has not yet been determined, effective today all campground reservations will be cancelled for the month of May.

Land Between the Lakes Expands List of Recreation Sites Temporarily Shut Down

Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – To protect public health and align with federal, state, and local guidance to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area (LBL) officials have announced the temporary shutdown of facilities, campgrounds, and developed camping areas for the safety of visitors and staff.
These measures are temporary but effective immediately. A date for reopening recreation areas is currently undetermined.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee State Parks remain open as we monitor COVID-19 and the impact of coronavirus in our state. We are taking the CDC’s recommended precautions as we work to provide a safe environment for our visitors.
Day-use Visitors: Our parks remain free to enter and enjoy. One of the benefits of the outdoors is the opportunity to find solitude and relaxation with a hike, jog or bike ride. We are taking the recommended precautions from the CDC to maintain clean and sanitary public spaces (visitor centers, restrooms, etc.). There is a state park within an hour of every Tennessean. Your nearby state park is still open and providing outdoor recreation opportunities.
Wildlife Celebration at Land Between The Lakes

Golden Pond, KY – Visit Woodlands Nature Station at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area, Saturday-Monday, May 24th-26th, for Wildlife Celebration.
All programs are free with paid Nature Station admission; ages 13 and up $5.00, ages 5-12 $3.00, and ages 4 and under are free. Call to pre-register for a guided canoe or kayak trip at 270-924-2020 Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Daily canoe and kayak rentals will start Saturday, May 24th, 10:00am-4:30pm.

LBL Re-Opens Following Government Shutdown

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area re-opens Friday, October 18th at 12:00 Noon. All attractions, campgrounds, camping areas, and recreation opportunities will be open for business as usual.
At this time, LBL Campground Reservations can only be made online by logging onto www.lbl.org and clicking the reservation link. Information on camping reservation refunds will be available next week. LBL’s Tennessee Youth Quota Deer Hunt will take place as scheduled October 19th and 20th.

Extreme Rainfall & Rising Lake Levels Impact Land Between the Lakes

Golden Pond, KY – Tennessee Valley Authority and the Corps of Engineers are predicting the lake level for Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake to rise to 371 feet (12 feet over summer pool). The current lake level is 359.9 feet. This will greatly impact boat ramps, campsites (campgrounds, backcountry areas, and self-service areas), trails, and roads within LBL. Impacted areas will be barricaded and closed.
