TWRA announces Becoming an Outdoors Woman Trapper Workshop to take place at Buffalo Ridge Refuge

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Tennessee Fur Harvesters Association will be hosting the inaugural Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) Trapper Workshop on January 20th-21st at Buffalo Ridge Refuge in Humphreys County.
Instructors at the camp are outdoor women who will teach the fundamentals of trapping, snaring, fur handling, and tanning animals. Nashville, TN – 2022 Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Muzzleloader Workshop will be sponsored by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency from November 11th-13th in Humphreys County.
Female hunters 18 and older will have the opportunity to learn about hunting deer during the weekend.
The workshop will be held at Buffalo Ridge Refuge, which incorporates a variety of wildlife management practices and totals more than 2,000 acres of prime deer habitat. Along with the hunts, a variety of topics including deer biology, deer management, and hunting ethics will be covered.
TWRA’s 2022 Free Youth Deer Hunt Registration going on now

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) says that youth between the ages of 10-16, who are hunter safety certified and who have never harvested a deer, are eligible to win a spot in what has become an annual special hunt.
The TWRA will host the hunt in conjunction with the opening day of the 2022 Tennessee Young Sportsman Deer Hunt on Saturday, October 29th.
Youth from various regions from across the state have participated in the event held at Buffalo Ridge Refuge in Humphreys County. A total of 30 young hunters will be selected to participate. Applications and registration can be made at gooutdoorstennessee.com under the events section.
[320left]Buffalo Ridge incorporates a variety of wildlife management practices and totals more than 2,000 acres of prime deer habitat. Treestands will be provided, including three which are handicap accessible. A Friday night cookout will be held. Sites will be available for those who wish to camp (participants must provide their own camping gear). Breakfast and lunch will also be provided Saturday.
TWRA will hold a drawing and the winners will be notified the week prior to the hunt. Confirmation packets will be sent to the successful participants that will include directions and a list of items to bring as well as a list of area hotels. Winning hunters are responsible for providing the appropriate Tennessee hunting license and must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult at least 21 years of age or older.

TWRA announces Young Sportsman Squirrel Hunt to be held at Buffalo Ridge Refuge, December 18th

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will hold a Young Sportsman Squirrel Hunt at Buffalo Ridge Refuge in Humphreys County on Saturday, December 18th, 2021.
There is no cost to participate in the hunt for youth ages 6-16. This hunt will replace the hunt that was held in February at the refuge.
The hunt will be limited to 30 participants. Breakfast and lunch will also be furnished. The day will begin with breakfast and a mandatory safety talk at 6:00am. The hunt starts at 7:00am and lunch will be available at noon.

TRWA announces Tennessee Outdoors Youth Summitt (TOYS) Field Day to be held at Buffalo Ridge, July 10th

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation (TWRF) will be partnering to hold Tennessee Outdoors Youth Summit (TOYS) Field Day. The event is Saturday, July 10th, 2021 at Buffalo Ridge Refuge in Humphreys County.
TOYS, in the past, has been a week-long event but has been moved to a single day this year due to the pandemic.
TWRA Requests Public Input on 2021-22 Hunting Regulations Changes

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is now soliciting comments on the proposed slight changes to the 2021-22 hunting seasons’ regulations that were made at the April meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission.
The changes proposed by the Agency were primarily related to Unit CWD regulations and additional hunting opportunities at Buffalo Ridge Refuge.
Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission Meeting gives update on Asian Carp, Duck Hunters Survey, Annual Awards

Humphreys County, TN – An update on Asian carp, results of a recent Tennessee duck hunters survey, and annual divisional awards presentations were among the business conducted at the October meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission.
The one-day meeting was held Friday in the Tom and Wendy Beasley Education Center at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Buffalo Ridge Refuge. It was the TFWC’s first formal meeting at Buffalo Ridge Refuge which comprises about 2,000 acres in southern Humphreys County.
Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission to hold October meeting at Buffalo Ridge Refuge

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) to hold a one-day meeting on Friday, October 23rd, 2020 beginning at 9:00am at Buffalo Ridge Refuge in Humphreys County. It will be the first formal TFWC meeting held at the refuge.
An update will be provided on the status of Asian carp to include distribution information, TVA’s Programmatic Environmental Assessment, USFWS funding and associated work plans for 2021 in the Tennessee/Cumberland and Lower Mississippi (Reelfoot) basins.
