October 10, 2021
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has announced Tennessee has reduced the state’s number of distressed counties to an all-time low as the Lee Administration focuses on targeted interventions for workforce development and infrastructure.
“Early on, we set a goal that we would have less than 10 distressed counties by 2025,” said Governor Lee. “By focusing on workforce development and infrastructure improvements, we are down to nine counties and will continue working to get remaining counties on the path to prosperity.”
Today’s Satellite Systems bring high speed Internet to rural areas
October 4, 2021
Carlsbad, CA – For many in the American countryside, signals from space have been most welcome for some time. That’s because, in many places, that’s the best way to get Internet service: via satellite.

Enjoying a rural lifestyle no longer has to mean you have to give up the kind of Internet connectivity urban dwellers have, thanks to today’s out-of-this-world satellite systems.
Test Your Internet Speed
September 13, 2021
– These days, most families would agree, home Internet connectivity and reliable speed are more important than ever.
Think about it: How much longer will it take for the kids’ new game to download? Do you have enough bandwidth for your 10:00am video conference?

A fast, reliable Internet connection can make working, studying and enjoying themselves at home easier for your family.
As more American households work, shop, learn, stream, and game— often simultaneously—on multiple devices, making sure at-home Internet is reliable and speedy and uninterrupted is a must.
The free Smart Move Internet Speed Test tool will track your Internet speed in real-time in seconds. You’ll be able to determine what your current Internet speed means and what fits your needs, learn about common issues that may cause the Internet to slow down, and discover simple ways to optimize your Internet speed. Speed Test Tips
Things you should consider before running your speed test:
1. Internet speed changes throughout the day. Test your speed multiple times for clear results.
2. Run the speed test in the same room and in clear sight of your router for the most accurate result.
3. Complete downloads on all connected devices prior to running the test.
How it Works
The test finds your location and closest server. Next, it pings the server, measuring the round-trip response time, and tests the time it takes to capture sample data and the network resources used in that capture.
[470center]
It will detect additional rooms and increases the number of open connections to download data, measuring how much your Internet connection can accomplish simultaneously (remember that 10:00am video conference and video game download speed we discussed earlier?). Finally, it processes your upload capacity, measuring the speed of data uploads from your Internet device to the test server.

5G Can Help Solve America’s Broadband Divide
September 7, 2021
The COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic laid bare just how sorry broadband access is in America: 42.8 million Americans—more than 1 in 8, most in rural areas—have no broadband Internet service where they live. And of those who do have broadband, 25% have only one choice.
Throughout Tennessee, there are over 500k people with only one choice for home broadband, and even worse, nearly 300k people are without any access at all. That lack of choice and competition leads to high prices, poor service, and some of the unhappiest customers in America. Only cable TV customers are less happy than ISP customers.

The digital divide has serious implications for education, telemedicine, agriculture and small business in Tennessee, but it can be bridged.
