LBL Educational Field Trip Grants Available for 2017-2018 School Year

Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Educational Field Trip Grants offer public schools an opportunity to visit Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area for the 2017-2018 school year. Educators must apply by Friday, April 28th, 2017.
Field Trip Grants assist schools in covering: costs for facility admission fees at Woodlands Nature Station, Homeplace 1850s Working Farm, and Golden Pond Planetarium; program costs; and dorm rental at Brandon Spring Group Center during the 2017-2018 school year.

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area offers public school districts within 100 miles an opportunity to receive an Educational Field Trip Grant for the 2015-2016 school year. Educators must apply by April 30th, 2015.
Educational Field Trip Grants assist schools in covering costs for transportation; facility admission fees at Woodlands Nature Station, The Homeplace, and Golden Pond Planetarium; program costs; and dorm rental at Brandon Spring Group Center during the 2015-2016 school year.

LBL “No Hunting” Zones Open to Archery Deer Hunting

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will open certain areas typically marked as “No Hunting” zones for archery deer hunting. Hunters are encouraged to harvest antlerless deer in these areas to reduce deer populations.
Kentucky areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 20th, including Hillman Ferry and Energy Lake campgrounds. Tennessee areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 5th and include Brandon Spring Group Center, Piney Campground, and the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16.

Areas open to archery hunting include Piney Campground and Brandon Spring Group Center. Archery hunting will also be permitted in the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area across The Trace from South Welcome Station, in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16. Hillman Ferry Campground will be open for archery hunting during the above dates. During that time, they will be closed December 10th-12th, for a special event. [Read more]
