More Camping and Lake Access Opportunities Return to LBL

Golden Pond, KY – Camping and lake access opportunities are returning to Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area as flood waters recede. Lake levels for Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake are currently at 362.3 feet and dropping.
The majority of campsites are open at Energy Lake Campground; all sites will open by May 20th. Hillman Ferry Campground and Piney Campground expect to open most walk-in sites and reservation sites on May 20th. Each seasonal camper at Hillman Ferry and Piney will be contacted individually as their site becomes available. Areas C, D, and E at Wranglers Campground are open for reservations. There are a very limited amount of walk-in sites available (call campground for availability, 270-924-2200). Wranglers Riding Stables is open, as well as a significant portion of horseback riding trails. Day-use riding is currently available. Rapidly Rising Lake Levels Create More Impacts at LBL

Golden Pond, KY – Tennessee Valley Authority and the Corps of Engineers are predicting unprecedented lake levels for Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake rapidly rising to 372 feet by May 4th (13 feet over summer pool) and will be held at this level for a couple of days. The current lake levels are 367.4 feet and are predicted to rise to 370.7 feet by Sunday, May 1st.
These lake levels have caused flooding along all of Land Between The Lakes (LBL) shoreline. As of today, LBL staff closed all boat ramps, and lakeside campsites, trails, and roads. All developed campgrounds will be closed by Sunday, May 1st. These areas will be barricaded and closed for safety of all visitors. Citations will be issued to anyone found beyond barricaded areas. Land Between the Lakes Facilities Re-Open for 2011 Season

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area begins its 2011 operations on Wednesday March 2nd, by opening several popular visitor attractions.
The Golden Pond Planetarium and North and South Welcome Stations open their doors March 1st, along with Hillman Ferry and Piney Campgrounds. (After recent improvements, the campground reservation system is now available for use.) Beginning March 2nd, The Homeplace and Woodlands Nature Station will be open Wednesday through Sunday during March, and then open seven days a week beginning April 1st. [Read more]
