Dan Gibbs, Joshua Roberson receive 2017 Wildlife Award

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Dan Gibbs and Joshua Roberson have been honored by being named the 2017 TWRA Wildlife Biologist of the Year and Wildlife Technician of the Year, respectively.

The annual awards are presented by the TWRA Wildlife and Forestry Division. Division Chief Mark Gudlin announced the winners at the January meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission.

New Officers elected during February TFWC Meeting

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission elected its new officers for 2016-17 during its one-day February meeting on Friday at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Region II Ray Bell Building.

Harold Cannon (Lenoir City) will serve as the 2016-17 chairman after he was vice chairman this past year. Jamie Woodson (Lebanon) moves from serving as secretary to vice chairman. David Watson (Lookout Mountain) was elected as the TFWC’s new secretary.

Jim Bledsoe (Jamestown) holds a plaque of appreciation he received for his service as chairman of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission. Chairman Bledsoe will continue as a commission member and is pictured with the newly-elected TFWC officers for 2016-17. To Mr. Bledsoe’s left is Vice Chairman Jamie Woodson (Lebanon), and to his right are Chairman Harold Cannon (Lenoir City), and Secretary David Watson (Lookout Mountain).

Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission returns to Nashville for February 2014 Meeting

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission will be presented with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s new strategic plan proposal during its February meeting.

The TFWC will be returning to Nashville and the TWRA Region II Ray Bell Building after holding its January meeting in Memphis. Committee meetings will be held (Thursday) February 13th at 1:00pm while the formal TFWC meeting is (Friday) February 14th at 9:00am. [Read more]

TWRA Addresses use of Bait for Hunting

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has been receiving inquiries concerning hunting with the use of bait. The statute concerning the use of bait (TCA 70-4-113) has not been changed.

However, in response to questions from hunters concerning hunting with the aid of bait, the TWRA has adopted an internal law enforcement procedure aimed at providing uniform enforcement of these regulations statewide for deer, turkey, and elk. Due to a greatly different response to bait, the procedure does not apply to bear and other wildlife. [Read more]
