Dallas, TX – You don’t need superpowers to be a hero when it comes to stroke, you just need to pay attention to the risk factors and know the warning signs.
“Stroke is largely preventable and treatable,” said Mary Ann Bauman, M.D., chair of the American Stroke Association Advisory Committee. “The best way to beat a stroke is to never have one – about 80 percent of strokes are preventable. The second best way to beat a stroke is to identify one immediately when it occurs and call 911.”
For American Stroke Month this May, the American Stroke Association’s Together to End Stroke™ initiative, nationally sponsored by Medtronic, offers five things everyone should know to be a Stroke Hero.

May is American Stroke Month
Nashville, TN – This month, the American Heart Association is bringing attention to stroke in a creative, colorful way.
Strokes for Stroke is a unique local art show featuring original pieces created by – and for – those affected by stroke. Many of the pieces to be displayed were created by stroke survivors, while other pieces have been created and donated by artists in honor of someone they know who’s had a stroke.
American heart Association says costs to treat Stroke in America may double by 2030

Dallas, TX – Sobering news at the end of American Stroke Month: costs to treat stroke are projected to more than double and the number of people having strokes may increase 20 percent by 2030, according to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
