Crude Oil prices tumble

November 28, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – After stubbornly staying above $80.00 a barrel since Labor Day, the price of crude oil tumbled this week into the mid-$70.00s.

Fears of slowing economic activity in the U.S. and Europe due to a resurgence of COVID-19 Coronavirus, along with reports that the Joe Biden Administration is calling for a simultaneous release of stockpiled oil by large oil-consuming nations, including the U.S., China, Japan, and South Korea, is putting downward pressure on crude prices. The national average price for a gallon of gas is $3.40, down a penny since last week.

AAA says Cost of Gasoline Is Still Going Up

October 18, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – The national average for a gallon of gasoline rose a nickel over the past week to hit $3.32. The primary driver of this surge remains the cost of crude oil, which is now closing daily above $80.00 a barrel. In August, the price of crude was in the low $60.00s per barrel.

“Compared to the price of gas a year ago, it now costs consumers about $17.00 more to fill up their vehicles,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “That’s the cost of a large pizza with toppings. And unfortunately, it doesn’t look like drivers will be finding relief at the pump any time soon.”

Rising Crude Oil Prices means Higher Prices at the Gas Pump

October 11, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – The national average price for a gallon of gas rose 8 cents on the week to reach $3.27. This is the highest price since October 2014 and is primarily due to the surging price of crude oil, which crept above $80.00 bbl before edging slightly lower.

“The key driver for this recent rise in the price of gas is crude oil, which typically accounts for between 50% and 60% of the price at the pump,” said AAA Spokesperson Andrew Gross.

AAA reports National Gas Price Average Stabilizes

August 20, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – New data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that gas demand and supply decreased.

Moving from 9.78 million b/d to 9.43 million b/d last week, the latest demand measurement is 500,000 b/d lower than the rate at this time in 2019, signaling that summer gas demand is likely softening as the school year starts and concerns about transmission of COVID-19 Coronavirus grow as infection rates continue to increase.

United States Gas Demand Soars

July 15, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – At 10 million b/d, gasoline demand reached a new Energy Information Administration (EIA) record last week, and that number only partially reflects Independence Day holiday weekend travel.

The nearly 1 million b/d jump in demand drove down gasoline supplies by 6.1 million bbl to 235,000 million bbl and consequently pushed the national average pump price up to $3.14.

AAA says Crude Oil Prices to Hit 7-Year High this Week with National Gas Price Average to Increase to $3.25 this Month

July 8, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – The national gas price average has increased 40% since the start of the year, from $2.25 on January 1 to $3.13 today. Moreover, it is not stopping there. Motorists can expect gas prices to increase another 10–20 cents through the end of August, bringing the national average well over $3.25 this summer.

“Robust gasoline demand and more expensive crude oil prices are pushing gas prices higher,” said Jeanette McGee, AAA spokesperson.
