The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.heart.org\/HEARTORG\/Conditions\/HeartAttack\/SymptomsDiagnosisofHeartAttack\/Microvascular-Angina_UCM_450313_Article.jsp\" > microvascular<\/a> dysfunction in the heart\u2019s circulation that\u2019s occurring after cocaine use is not being picked up routinely by the angiogram,\u201d stated Kumar.<\/p>\n<p>Microvascular dysfunction refers to improper blood flow through the smallest blood vessels.<\/p>\n<p>The study compared heart imaging tests of 202 cocaine users to 210 randomly chosen non-cocaine users. All had undergone <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.heart.org\/idc\/groups\/heart-public\/@wcm\/@hcm\/documents\/downloadable\/ucm_300436.pdf\" > coronary angiography<\/a> testing at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago from 2005 to 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The study showed that among cocaine users, during angiogram, the dye failed to clear instantly from the smallest vessels and also over-dilated blood vessels resulting in faster blood flow.
