{"id":9219,"date":"2014-11-09T11:00:41","date_gmt":"2014-11-09T17:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=9219"},"modified":"2014-11-09T05:16:55","modified_gmt":"2014-11-09T11:16:55","slug":"tennessee-wildlife-resources-agency-reports-muzzleloader-season-for-deer-now-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2014\/11\/09\/tennessee-wildlife-resources-agency-reports-muzzleloader-season-for-deer-now-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports Muzzleloader Season for Deer now open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-46127\" title=\"Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/tennessee-wildlife-resources-agency.gif\" alt=\"Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRA\" width=\"140\" height=\"137\" \/><strong>Nashville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; The 2014 muzzleloader\/archery season for deer opened in Tennessee on Saturday, November 8th and continues through Friday, November 21st in all three of Tennessee\u2019s deer hunting units, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.<\/p>\n<p>The opening of muzzleloader season in the state has a permanent opening date of the third Saturday before Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>Muzzleloading firearms are defined as those firearms which are incapable of being loaded from the breech.<!--more-->Muzzleloading firearms of .36 caliber minimum plus long bows, compound bows and crossbows are legal hunting equipment for this season.<\/p>\n<p>Hunters are also reminded that they must meet the blaze orange requirements while hunting.<\/p>\n<p>The statewide bag limit for antlered bucks is three. No more than one antlered deer may be taken per day. Hunters are allowed the following antlerless bag limits: Unit A -4 antlerless deer; Unit L-3 antlerless deer per day and Unit B-1 antlerless deer.<\/p>\n<p>For the exact boundaries of the different deer units, hunters can refer to the 2014-15 Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide, available where hunting and fishing licenses are sold and at all TWRA offices. A list of the state\u2019s permanent annual opening hunting dates is on page 12 of the guide. The guide can also be viewed at TWRA\u2019s website at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tnwildlife.org\" >www.tnwildlife.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Resident hunters, ages 16 through 64 must possess in addition to other appropriate licenses, an annual big game license for the equipment used. Lifetime Sportsman license, Junior Hunt\/Trap\/Fish, Adult Sportsman license and Permanent Senior Citizens license holders are not required to purchase supplemental big game licenses.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to private lands, including public hunting areas, several wildlife management areas (WMAs) will be open to hunters during this muzzleloader season. Hunters need to refer to the 2014-15 Hunting and Trapping Guide for a listing of these WMAs or go to TWRA\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee\u2019s gun season for deer opens on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This year\u2019s date is November 22nd. The season for gun\/muzzleloader\/archery will then continue through January 4th, 2015. Archery equipment is legal during muzzleloader and gun seasons.
