\"LandGolden Pond, KY <\/strong>– Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area hosts the annual Special Populations Fishing Tournament on Saturday, June 14th, at Honker Lake off Forest Service Road 135, near Woodlands Nature Station. Registration for the free tournament begins at 8:30am, with fishing from 9:00am until 12:00pm.<\/p>\n

Kentucky Lake Bass Club sponsors the tournament in its 37th<\/sup> year.<\/p>\n

This tournament is designed to develop the fishing skills of children and adults who are physically and\/or mentally challenged.<\/p>\n

Pre-registration is preferred to make sure adequate supplies are on-hand. Call 270.924.2046 to pre-register or for more information.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a fun day for volunteers, parents, caregivers, and especially the anglers,\u201d commented Steve Gray with Kentucky Lake Bass Club. \u201cWe encourage everyone to come out and enjoy this special event!\u201d Prizes will be awarded for the heaviest string of fish.<\/p>\n

The Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, manages Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area in partnership with Friends of Land Between The Lakes in Western Kentucky and Tennessee. The National Recreation Area provides environmental education, outdoor recreation, lake access, and land management for the public to enjoy.<\/p>\n
