\"PBS\"Washington, D.C.<\/strong> – On Sunday, May 25th on PBS from 7:00pm to 8:30pm CT for the 2014 National Memorial Day Concert, featuring actress Dianne Wiest, musical artists Danielle Bradbery, Jackie Evancho, Megan Hilty, Anthony Kearns, Jack Everly, and co-hosted for the eighth year by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise.<\/p>\n

[youtube]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=m3epnou3nd0[\/youtube]<\/a>On the eve of Memorial Day, a star-studded lineup<\/a> <\/span> will grace the stage for the 25th National Memorial Day Concert<\/em>, featuring uplifting musical performances, documentary footage, and dramatic readings that honor all Americans who have sacrificed for our country.<\/p>\n

As one of PBS\u2019 highest-rated programs, the multiple-award-winning television event has become an American tradition, honoring the military service<\/a> of all our men and women in uniform, their families at home, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.<\/p>\n

The concert\u2019s mission is to unite the country in remembrance and appreciation<\/a> of the fallen and to serve those who are grieving.<\/a> Executive Producer Jerry Colbert says, \u201cWe think of the agony of the mother or father who lost a child, the spouses and children left behind, the people who are wounded in body and soul. And we do this memorial service to remember and reach out to them. We must remember their sacrifices and continue the mission set forth by Abraham Lincoln to \u2018care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The concert is broadcast live on PBS and via the American Forces Network<\/a> to the nearly one million American service members, Department of Defense civilians and their families, stationed at bases in 175 countries, as well as 140 U.S. Navy ships at sea.<\/p>\n
