{"id":5776,"date":"2012-07-28T16:00:11","date_gmt":"2012-07-28T21:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=5776"},"modified":"2012-07-28T02:29:45","modified_gmt":"2012-07-28T07:29:45","slug":"land-between-the-lakes-closures-for-clean-up-at-golden-pond-target-range","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2012\/07\/28\/land-between-the-lakes-closures-for-clean-up-at-golden-pond-target-range\/","title":{"rendered":"Land Between the Lakes closures for Clean-Up at Golden Pond Target Range"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-40768\" title=\"Land Between the Lakes\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/land_between_the_lakes.gif\" alt=\"Land Between the Lakes\" width=\"174\" height=\"126\" \/><strong>Golden Pond, KY<\/strong> &#8211; Beginning August 1st, 2012, the Golden Pond Target Range at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will be closed on Wednesday mornings until 11:00am for clean-up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Golden Pond Target Range is extremely popular with visitors and is getting a lot of use,\u201d stated LBL\u2019s Recreation Program Manager, Gary Hawkins. \u201cClosing the target range for a few hours each week will give our staff a chance to safely mow and pick up trash and leftover shells.\u201d<!--more-->To reduce maintenance costs, visitors are encouraged to dispose of all trash and spent shells in the dumpster just outside the target range area. The national campaign of &#8220;Pack It In. Pack It Out!&#8221; helps keep our public lands free of litter by everyone packing out their own trash and properly disposing of it.<\/p>\n<p>The target range was updated in 2010, and is almost twice as long as before. It includes two ranges for simultaneous shooting\u2014a 175-yard rifle range containing six shooting benches and a 50-yard pistol range containing four shooting benches.<\/p>\n<p>The accessible target range is open from dawn to dusk. Use is on a first-come, first-served basis with capability for multiple shooters. The archery range will remain open during target range closures.<\/p>\n<p>Come Outside and Play at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. Managed by the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Land Between The Lakes provides outdoor recreation, lake access, and environmental education for the public to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors are encouraged to review LBL\u2019s official website at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lbl.org\" >www.lbl.org<\/a> often for Calendar of Events, updates on programs and policies, safety information, maps, temporary trail and road closures, and additional LBL information, or call 800.LBL.7077 or 270.924.2000.
