Tennessee is a \u2018pay as you go\u2019 state and TDOT will continue to do our part in upholding Governor Bill Haslam\u2019s vision of running an effective and efficient government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that access to high-quality infrastructure is a key component to getting products to market and people on the move,\u201d said Kent Starwalt, President of the Tennessee Road Builders Association. \u201cThis acknowledgement is a true testament that the department and the industry are working together to foster economic opportunity in Tennessee by providing a superior transportation network.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/id\/46413842\/\"  target=\"_blank\">CNBC report<\/a> scored all 50 states on 40 measures of competitiveness, including the vitality of each state\u2019s transportation system. Tennessee also ranked well in the categories of business friendliness and cost of living.
