{"id":17747,"date":"2021-06-24T17:00:14","date_gmt":"2021-06-24T22:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=17747"},"modified":"2021-06-24T15:20:56","modified_gmt":"2021-06-24T20:20:56","slug":"tennessee-unemployment-falls-or-remains-steady","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2021\/06\/24\/tennessee-unemployment-falls-or-remains-steady\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennessee Unemployment Falls or Remains Steady"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><em><strong>Most Tennessee Counties had Unemployment Rates Under 5% in May.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-327830\" title=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Tennessee-Department-of-Labor-and-Workforce-Development.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" width=\"250\" height=\"76\">Nashville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; The majority of Tennessee counties recorded unemployment rates below 5% in May 2021, according to new data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.<\/p>\n<p>Henry County&#8217;s unemployment rate in May was 4.5 percent down 0.1 percent from April&#8217;s 4.4 percent.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Tennessee-Unemployment-County-Rates-for-May-2021.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-525582\" title=\"Tennessee Unemployment County Rates for May 2021\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Tennessee-Unemployment-County-Rates-for-May-2021-480x320.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Unemployment County Rates for May 2021\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\"><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Forty counties experienced a drop in unemployment during May, while rates remained the same in 18 counties. Thirty-seven counties did see some increase in unemployment for the month.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-seven of Tennessee\u2019s 95 counties recorded unemployment rates less than 5% in May, while 28 counties had rates of 5% or greater.<\/p>\n<p>At 2.7%, Moore County and Williamson County continued to have the lowest unemployment in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Moore County\u2019s rate dropped 0.2 of a percentage point from its revised April rate and it saw a 5.8 percentage point decrease from its May 2020 rate. Williamson County\u2019s jobless number went down 0.3 of a percentage point when compared to April and it was 3.7 percentage points lower than its May 2020 number.<\/p>\n<p>Perry County had the highest unemployment in May. Its new rate of 7.1% is 1.3 percentage points lower than the previous month\u2019s rate and a staggering 8.3 percentage points lower than its May 2020 rate.<\/p>\n<p>Shelby County had the second-highest unemployment for the month.
