{"id":17281,"date":"2020-10-31T10:14:55","date_gmt":"2020-10-31T15:14:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=17281"},"modified":"2020-10-31T08:48:14","modified_gmt":"2020-10-31T13:48:14","slug":"united-states-extended-benefits-program-ends-november-7th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2020\/10\/31\/united-states-extended-benefits-program-ends-november-7th\/","title":{"rendered":"United States Extended Benefits Program Ends November 7th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-327830 size-full\" title=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Tennessee-Department-of-Labor-and-Workforce-Development.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" width=\"250\" height=\"76\">Nashville, TN <\/strong>&#8211; The United States Department of Labor (USDOL) informed the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) late Thursday afternoon the Extended Benefits (EB) program will end in the state on Saturday, November 7th, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Cares-Act.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-486497\" title=\"Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Cares-Act-480x320.jpg\" alt=\"Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act)\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\"><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>USDOL uses a state\u2019s unemployment metrics to determine when its EB program will start and end. Tennessee crossed the threshold of economic recovery that triggered the ending of the program on October 10th.<\/p>\n<p>Extended Benefits is the second extended unemployment program the federal government offers to claimants who exhaust their benefits with the state program and then the additional 13 weeks of benefits through the CARES Act program, Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nFormer EB claimants may reapply to determine eligibility to receive benefits through the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program, which is part of the CARES Act and runs through December 26th.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nTennessee had approximately 3,000 claimants who completed their certification for the EB program during the week ending October 24th. They will complete two more certifications for the weeks ending October 31st and November 7th.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nTDLWD is ready to help these claimants get back into the workforce and find jobs through the Reemploy Tennessee initiative.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nJobs4TN.gov integrates Tennessee\u2019s unemployment system with its workforce development system to streamline the process of finding work.
