The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will suspend all construction-related lane closures on interstates and state routes beginning at 12:00noon on Friday, May 22nd through 6:00am on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_189178\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/TDOT-Construction.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-189178\" class=\"wp-image-189178 size-medium\" title=\"No Road Construction Delays for Memorial Day Travelers. (Tennessee Department of Transportation)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This will provide maximum roadway capacity for motorists expected to travel in the state this Memorial Day weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuspending construction-related lane closures during the Memorial Day weekend will lessen congestion and delays on Tennessee\u2019s major highways,\u201d said Commissioner Clay Bright.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to do our part to help everyone have an enjoyable and safe holiday weekend and keep traffic flowing as smoothly and efficiently as possible,\u201d Bright stated.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists may still encounter some lane closures or restrictions while traveling through long term construction projects. Drivers should be aware that reduced speed limits will be in effect in work zones. Drivers convicted of speeding through work zones where workers are present face a fine of up to $500.00, plus court fees and possible increased insurance premiums.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re asking motorists to drive safely this Memorial Day weekend,\u201d Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Jeff Long said. \u201cThough traffic has lessened, we continue to see speeding and distracted driving crashes.
