{"id":15972,"date":"2020-04-27T17:05:43","date_gmt":"2020-04-27T22:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=15972"},"modified":"2020-04-27T17:05:43","modified_gmt":"2020-04-27T22:05:43","slug":"tennessee-department-of-education-announces-1-million-idea-technology-partnership-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2020\/04\/27\/tennessee-department-of-education-announces-1-million-idea-technology-partnership-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennessee Department of Education announces $1 Million IDEA Technology Partnership Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-335392 alignleft\" title=\"Tennessee Department of Education\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Tennessee-Department-of-Education.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Department of Education\" width=\"250\" height=\"111\">Nashville, TN<\/b><\/span> &#8211; The<span class=\"normaltextrun\"> Tennessee Department of Education (TDE) today, Monday, April 27th, 2020 announced a new Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Technology Partnership Grant, making $1 million dollars available for Tennessee school districts to better support the educational needs of students with disabilities by addressing technology needs that are a result of COVID-19 school closures.<\/span><span class=\"eop\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Grant.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-476927\" title=\"Grant\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Grant-480x320.jpg\" alt=\"Grant\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\"><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"normaltextrun\">This grant,&nbsp;which uses&nbsp;federal&nbsp;IDEA discretionary funds, will&nbsp;support districts in purchasing additional&nbsp;assistive technology&nbsp;and other tools&nbsp;to&nbsp;increase access to services and instruction for students with disabilities&nbsp;during school closures.&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"eop\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">\u201cAll students must have access to learning and services during school closures,\u201d said Commissioner Penny Schwinn. \u201cThe department is continuing to work with districts to serve the needs of all students\u2014and we know they are facing new and unprecedented challenges to delivering instruction to students with disabilities.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">&#8220;This grant will help bridge those needs with new resources so school and district staff can continue the critical work of supporting and enhancing access and opportunities for students with disabilities,\u201d<\/span><span class=\"eop\"> Schwinn stated.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">All school districts are&nbsp;invited to&nbsp;apply for&nbsp;the IDEA Technology Partnership Grant.&nbsp;Districts&nbsp;that&nbsp;submit&nbsp;applications&nbsp;meeting minimum requirements&nbsp;are eligible to receive funding per the demonstrated student need,&nbsp;ranging from $2,500 to $20,000.&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"eop\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><b>The application, which is available now on&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eplan.tn.gov\/default.aspx?ccipSessionKey=637236024786742090\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><b>ePlan<\/b><\/span><\/a><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><b>, is due May 8th.
