{"id":15761,"date":"2020-04-10T18:15:29","date_gmt":"2020-04-10T23:15:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=15761"},"modified":"2020-04-10T17:10:01","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T22:10:01","slug":"tdoc-tdh-offer-testing-for-corrections-employees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2020\/04\/10\/tdoc-tdh-offer-testing-for-corrections-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"TDOC, TDH Offer Testing for Corrections Employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-486509\" title=\"Tennessee Department of Correction\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Tennessee-Department-of-Corrections.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Department of Correction\" width=\"250\" height=\"99\">Nashville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC), in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), will launch a proactive testing initiative to further ensure the safety of staff and inmates during the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_486126\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Coronavirus-4.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-486126\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-486126\" title=\"Coronavirus\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Coronavirus-4-480x270.jpg\" alt=\"Coronavirus\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-486126\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Coronavirus<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Beginning Friday, April 10th, the TDH will offer testing for Coronavirus (COVID-19) to all employees at the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville and the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex in Pikeville.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following the positive Coronavirus (COVID-19) test results of three TDOC staff members and three contract employees at the two facilities, the TDOC and the TDH began examining a mass testing approach out of an abundance of caution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI applaud Governor Lee for dedicating the resources toward this effort,\u201d Commissioner Tony Parker said.&nbsp; \u201cWhile no inmates at either facility have tested positive, we believe this proactive measure will go a long way in helping to protect staff members, their families and the inmate population.&nbsp; We are ahead of the curve, but make no mistake \u2013 just the fact that we\u2019re dealing with a new virus and there is no vaccine for it changes the whole landscape of corrections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TDOC staff members at each facility are being notified of the available testing and the TDH will notify each employee of their test results.<\/p>\n<p>Disinfection and safety measures are ongoing at the facilities.
