{"id":15692,"date":"2020-04-04T22:15:27","date_gmt":"2020-04-05T03:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=15692"},"modified":"2020-04-04T20:52:30","modified_gmt":"2020-04-05T01:52:30","slug":"tennessee-department-of-education-launches-survey-to-get-feedback-on-cares-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2020\/04\/04\/tennessee-department-of-education-launches-survey-to-get-feedback-on-cares-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennessee Department of Education Launches Survey to get Feedback on CARES Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-335392\" title=\"Tennessee Department of Education\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Tennessee-Department-of-Education.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Department of Education\" width=\"250\" height=\"111\">Nashville, TN <\/b>&#8211; <\/span><span class=\"normaltextrun\">The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) has released a public survey seeking feedback from all stakeholders on the most effective ways to help school districts address immediate needs to respond to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.&nbsp; <\/span><span class=\"eop\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Cares-Act.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-486497\" title=\"Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Cares-Act-480x320.jpg\" alt=\"Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act)\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\"><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"normaltextrun\">H.R. 748, the \u201cCoronavirus Aid, Relief, And Economic Security Act\u201d (CARES Act) is federal legislation to provide $2 trillion in emergency relief in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and includes $30.75 billion nationally for Education Stabilization Funding.&nbsp; <\/span><span class=\"eop\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">Tennessee school districts are eligible to receive one-time relief funding, once it becomes available, based on their Title I formula percentages. Each state will be required to submit a plan that the US Department of Education must approve in order to receive funding, and the federal application is expected to open mid-April. Due to this timeline, the deadline to complete the survey is Monday, April 13th, 2020. <\/span><span class=\"eop\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">\u201cFor the past few weeks, we have been in frequent contact with superintendents and school leaders across the state, and there is no doubt that these one-time federal relief funds for education will be welcomed and critical,\u201d said Education Commissioner Dr. Penny Schwinn.&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"eop\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">\u201cThe department is making every effort to position our state to get funding to&nbsp;districts&nbsp;as soon as possible. Our districts and educators are working hard to support students in this new distance format, and that is why I waived the 180 instructional days requirement this year following the passage of the General Assembly\u2019s legislation last month. The department will remain laser focused on helping ensure districts have the resources they need to continue to serve the children of Tennessee.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"eop\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">The survey questions are intended to help the Department understand local needs as well as potential investments and supports that could be offered to local school districts.
