The new rate of 3.4 percent matches the previous month\u2019s rate, according to data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).<\/p>\n<p>While Tennessee&#8217;s jobless rate remained the same between September and October, over the past year, Tennessee&#8217;s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate experienced a slight uptick from 3.3 percent to 3.4 percent.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_472980\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Tennessee-Unemployment-Rates-2017-through-2019-October.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-472980\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-472980\" title=\"Tennessee Unemployment Rates - 2017 through 2019\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Tennessee-Unemployment-Rates-2017-through-2019-October-480x282.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Unemployment Rates - 2017 through 2019\" width=\"480\" height=\"282\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-472980\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tennessee Unemployment Rates &#8211; 2017 through 2019<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The current rate is still very close to the all-time low of 3.2 percent, which the state recorded earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMonth after month, we continue to see Tennessee\u2019s unemployment rate hold steady, very close to the all-time historic low, and that\u2019s great news,\u201d said TDLWD Commissioner Jeff McCord. \u201cEven with unemployment at its current level, we are mindful that not all sectors are the same and will continue to work with individuals who need assistance in transitioning employment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Between October 2018 and October of this year, Tennessee&#8217;s nonfarm employment increased by 38,900 jobs. The most significant increases occurred in the leisure\/hospitality, professional\/business services, and trade\/transportation\/utilities sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The latest statistics show the number of nonfarm jobs dropped by 5,100 between September and October of this year. The largest decreases occurred in the manufacturing, professional\/business services, and other services sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Nationally, seasonally adjusted unemployment experienced a slight uptick.
