Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner Clay Bright announced today the award of $13,669,998 Transportation Alternatives Grants statewide in Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennessee is committed to continuing to develop safe infrastructure across our states,\u201d Lee said. \u201cThese grants will help us reach our goal of being a healthier state and will enhance the lives of Tennesseans by making our communities more accessible and livable.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_444646\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Tennessee-Governor-Bill-Lee.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-444646\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-444646\" title=\"Tennessee Governor Bill Lee\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Tennessee-Governor-Bill-Lee-480x325.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Governor Bill Lee\" width=\"480\" height=\"325\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-444646\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tennessee Governor Bill Lee<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The transportation alternatives grant is made possible through a federally funded program and is administered by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough these grants, TDOT has funded $386 million in non-traditional transportation projects,\u201d said TDOT Commissioner Clay Bright.&nbsp; \u201cThis program has assisted communities all over the state in their efforts to revitalize downtowns, highlight historic areas, provide alternative means of transportation, and increase opportunities for economic development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A list of this year\u2019s grantees can be found on the following page.<\/p>\n<p>A variety of activities, such as the restoration of historic facilities, bike and pedestrian trails, landscaping and other non-traditional transportation projects, are eligible for grant funds under the federal program.&nbsp;
