{"id":14298,"date":"2019-02-05T17:00:56","date_gmt":"2019-02-05T23:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=14298"},"modified":"2019-02-05T16:34:00","modified_gmt":"2019-02-05T22:34:00","slug":"weakley-county-woman-charged-with-tenncare-drug-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2019\/02\/05\/weakley-county-woman-charged-with-tenncare-drug-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"Weakley County Woman Charged with TennCare Drug Fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Tennessee Division of Health Care Finance and Administration<\/h2>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-332049\" title=\"Tennessee Division of Health Care Finance &amp; Administration\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Tennessee-Division-of-Health-Care-Finance-Administration.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Division of Health Care Finance &amp; Administration\" width=\"260\" height=\"65\">Nashville, TN <\/strong>&#8211; A Weakley County woman is charged in nearby Madison County with TennCare fraud involving doctor shopping, which involves fraudulent use of the state\u2019s healthcare insurance program to obtain controlled substances.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_443635\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Tina-Mays.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-443635\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-443635\" title=\"Tina Mays\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Tina-Mays-480x320.jpg\" alt=\"Tina Mays\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-443635\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tina Mays<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Office of Inspector General (OIG), with the assistance of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mcso-tn.org\/\" >Madison County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a>, announced the arrest of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/content\/dam\/tn\/finance\/images\/020419%20Tina%20Mays.jpg\" >Tina Mays<\/a>, 44, of Gleason.<\/p>\n<p>She is charged with four counts of fraudulently using TennCare to visit multiple doctors to obtain prescriptions for the painkiller Hydrocodone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennesseans won\u2019t stand for TennCare resources to be used to fuel the opioid crisis,\u201d Inspector General Kim Harmon said. \u201cThe Office of Inspector General works diligently with other state and local agencies to deter prescriptions being diverted to the streets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TennCare fraud is a Class D felony carrying a sentence of up to four years in prison per charge.&nbsp; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tndagc.org\/district\/26\" >District Attorney General Jody Pickens<\/a> is prosecuting.<\/p>\n<p>The OIG, which is separate from TennCare, began full operation in February 2005 and has investigated cases leading to more than $3 million being repaid to TennCare, with a total estimated cost avoidance of more than $163.6 million for TennCare, according to latest figures.
