{"id":13906,"date":"2018-08-16T16:00:21","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T21:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=13906"},"modified":"2018-08-16T14:21:25","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T19:21:25","slug":"tennessee-unemployment-rate-remains-steady-for-third-consecutive-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2018\/08\/16\/tennessee-unemployment-rate-remains-steady-for-third-consecutive-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennessee Unemployment Rate remains Steady for Third Consecutive Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development<\/h2>\n<p>State Unemployment Rate Continued at 3.5 percent during July as Businesses Continued to Add Jobs<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-327830\" title=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Tennessee-Department-of-Labor-and-Workforce-Development.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" width=\"250\" height=\"76\"><strong>Nashville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips today released the statewide unemployment rate for July 2018, and for the third consecutive month the statistic has held steady at 3.5 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee\u2019s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has not only remained unchanged since May, it mirrors the 3.5 percent recorded during the same time period in 2017.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Tennessee-Unemployment-Rate-January-July-2018.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-430839\" title=\"Tennessee Unemployment Rate - January-July 2018\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Tennessee-Unemployment-Rate-January-July-2018-480x320.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Unemployment Rate - January-July 2018\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\"><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Companies also continued the trend of new job creation across the state.&nbsp;&nbsp;Between June and July, Tennessee employers bolstered the state\u2019s economy by adding 2,500 new nonfarm jobs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennessee\u2019s economy is truly holding its own right now,\u201d said Haslam.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cThe fact the unemployment rate has remained unchanged for three months, and Tennessee businesses continue to add new jobs, shows our workforce strategy over the last eight years is paying off for both citizens and businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over the year, nonfarm employment in Tennessee has increased by 56,300 jobs.
