{"id":13583,"date":"2018-04-01T05:00:11","date_gmt":"2018-04-01T10:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=13583"},"modified":"2018-03-31T22:48:59","modified_gmt":"2018-04-01T03:48:59","slug":"tennessee-county-unemployment-rates-improve-across-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2018\/04\/01\/tennessee-county-unemployment-rates-improve-across-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennessee County Unemployment Rates Improve Across State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em><strong>February Rates Decrease or Remain the Same in Nearly All Tennessee Counties<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-327830\" title=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Tennessee-Department-of-Labor-and-Workforce-Development.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" width=\"250\" height=\"76\">Nashville, TN <\/strong>&#8211; The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development today released the February 2018 unemployment rates for all Tennessee counties.&nbsp; The latest statistics showed improved rates for the majority of the state\u2019s counties during the month.<\/p>\n<p>Henry County&#8217;s unemployment rate remains the same in February at 4.8 percent.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Tennessee-County-Unemployment-Rates-for-February-2018.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-416496\" title=\"Tennessee County Unemployment Rates for February 2018\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Tennessee-County-Unemployment-Rates-for-February-2018-480x334.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee County Unemployment Rates for February 2018\" width=\"480\" height=\"334\"><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Sixty-nine of Tennessee\u2019s 95 counties saw lower unemployment rates when compared to January 2018.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The rates remained the same in 21 counties and increased in five counties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is great to see unemployment rates decrease in so many counties during February,\u201d said Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips.&nbsp; \u201cWhile this type of rebound in February is typical after the state usually experiences a slight uptick in unemployment after the holidays, it is not a given.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Williamson County continued to have the state\u2019s lowest unemployment rate.&nbsp; The February rate of 2.4 percent is a decrease of 0.1 of a percentage point when compared to the previous month.<\/p>\n<p>At 2.6 percent, Davidson County had the state\u2019s second lowest unemployment rate in February, which was 0.1 of a percentage point lower than January\u2019s rate.<\/p>\n<p>Houston County had the state\u2019s highest unemployment rate in February at 6.8 percent, which is the same rate the county had in January.&nbsp; The latest statistic was 0.2 of a percentage point lower than the county\u2019s February 2017 unemployment rate.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee\u2019s statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for February 2018 was 3.4 percent, a 0.1 of a percentage point increase from the revised January rate of 3.3 percent.&nbsp;The national unemployment rate for the month held steady at 4.1 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The statewide unemployment rate is seasonally adjusted, while county rates are not.&nbsp; Seasonal adjustment is a statistical technique that eliminates the influences of weather, holidays, the opening and closing of schools and other recurring seasonal events from an economic time series.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/content\/dam\/tn\/workforce\/documents\/LaborForceEstimatesFeb18.pdf\" >A complete analysis of the February 2018 county unemployment rates can be found here<\/a>.&nbsp; Additional information on labor statistics can be found on the state\u2019s workforce website, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jobs4tn.gov\/vosnet\/Default.aspx\" title=\"Jobs4TN\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jobs4TN.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February Rates Decrease or Remain the Same in Nearly All Tennessee Counties Nashville, TN &#8211; The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development today released the February 2018 unemployment rates for all Tennessee counties.&nbsp; The latest statistics showed improved rates for the majority of the state\u2019s counties during the month.
