{"id":12901,"date":"2017-08-26T18:00:31","date_gmt":"2017-08-26T23:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=12901"},"modified":"2017-08-26T16:27:24","modified_gmt":"2017-08-26T21:27:24","slug":"county-unemployment-rates-improve-across-much-of-tennessee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2017\/08\/26\/county-unemployment-rates-improve-across-much-of-tennessee\/","title":{"rendered":"County Unemployment Rates Improve Across Much of Tennessee"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>July 2017 Reflects a Positive Shift in 40 Tennessee Counties.<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-327830\" title=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Tennessee-Department-of-Labor-and-Workforce-Development.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development\" width=\"250\" height=\"76\"><strong>Nashville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; Amid historic lows in statewide unemployment figures, Tennessee\u2019s county unemployment rates for July 2017 showed improvement in a large number of counties, according to data released today by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).<\/p>\n<p>Forty of Tennessee\u2019s 95 counties bettered their unemployment rates, compared to June 2017 and 31 counties saw no movement during the latest survey.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Tennessee-County-Unemployment-Rates-July-2017.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-390793\" title=\"Tennessee County Unemployment Rates - July 2017\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Tennessee-County-Unemployment-Rates-July-2017-480x330.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee County Unemployment Rates - July 2017\" width=\"480\" height=\"330\"><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Twenty-four counties did experience a small uptick in the non-seasonally adjusted unemployment figures.<\/p>\n<p>Montgomery County&#8217;s unemployment rate was 4.7 percent and increase of 0.1 percent from June.<\/p>\n<p>Davidson County has the state\u2019s lowest major metropolitan rate at 3.1 percent, matching the revised rate reported for June 2017. Knox County\u2019s rate for July held steady at 3.7 percent. Hamilton and Shelby counties also remain at the prior month\u2019s revised rates of 4.1 and 4.8, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe summer months typically have higher county unemployment rates because they are not adjusted for seasonal workers,\u201d said TDLWD Commissioner Burns Phillips. \u201cIt is a positive sign that nearly three-quarters of the counties across the state saw their unemployment rates decrease or remain the same as they were in June\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Tennessee-County-Unemployment-Rate-Range-July-2017.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-390794\" title=\"Tennessee County Unemployment Rate Range - July 2017\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Tennessee-County-Unemployment-Rate-Range-July-2017-480x83.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee County Unemployment Rate Range - July 2017\" width=\"480\" height=\"83\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Specific county information for the month of May is available online at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tn.gov\/assets\/entities\/labor\/attachments\/Labor_Force_Estimates%2C_Jul_17.pdf\" >http:\/\/tn.gov\/assets\/entities\/labor\/attachments\/Labor_Force_Estimates%2C_Jul_17.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Preliminary unemployment rates have fallen for both Tennessee and the United States. Decreasing by two-tenths of a percentage point, the state rate is 3.4 percent for July. The national rate fell a tenth of a percentage point to 4.3 percent for the month.<\/p>\n<p>The state and national unemployment rates are seasonally adjusted, while the county unemployment rates are not.
