{"id":12486,"date":"2017-04-03T22:00:56","date_gmt":"2017-04-04T03:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/?p=12486"},"modified":"2017-04-03T19:39:22","modified_gmt":"2017-04-04T00:39:22","slug":"aaa-reports-gas-prices-on-the-rise-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paristn.net\/articles\/2017\/04\/03\/aaa-reports-gas-prices-on-the-rise-2\/","title":{"rendered":"AAA reports Gas Prices on the Rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-35320\" title=\"AAA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/AAA.gif\" alt=\"AAA\" height=\"122\" width=\"200\">Tampa, FL<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> &#8211;<\/span> All signs point to higher gas prices.&nbsp;Gasoline demand is surging while inventories are beginning to slip.&nbsp;Meanwhile, refineries are getting rid of excess winter blend gasoline as they continue to push summer blend fuel into the market, which is more expensive to produce.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.32, an increase of&nbsp;3 cents from last week, up a few fractions of a cent from one month ago, and 26 cents more than this time last year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_344824\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Rising-Oil-Prices.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-344824\" class=\"wp-image-344824 size-medium\" title=\"Declining gasoline inventories normally trigger a rise in gas prices.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Rising-Oil-Prices-480x360.jpg\" alt=\"Declining gasoline inventories normally trigger a rise in gas prices.\" height=\"360\" width=\"480\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-344824\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Declining gasoline inventories normally trigger a rise in gas prices.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->&#8220;Motorists should expect more volatility at the pump in the coming months,&#8221; said Josh Carrasco, spokesman, AAA &#8211; The Auto Club Group. &#8220;Declining gasoline inventories, like we saw last week, normally trigger&nbsp;a rise in gas&nbsp;prices. But increased domestic oil production could put a ceiling on historic springtime increases at the pump.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wholesale gas prices rose 7 cents last week as&nbsp;demand rose and&nbsp;gasoline supplies fell.&nbsp;The dip in supplies is normal for&nbsp;this time of year, as refineries try to sell off their&nbsp;remaining winter blend gasoline.&nbsp;Refineries have until May 1st to complete the switch to summer blend gasoline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>AAA projects the national average for a gallon of gasoline will increase 40 cents this summer, peaking near $2.70, which is 70 cents higher than it was last summer. Whether gas prices reach that peak will depend on the direction of oil prices, which&nbsp;hit their highest price point since March 7th on Friday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Daily national, state, and metro gas price averages can be found at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gasprices.aaa.com\"  target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Gasprices.aaa.com<\/span><\/a>. Motorists can&nbsp;find the lowest gas prices along their route with the free&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/autoclubsouth.aaa.com\/travel\/aaa-mobile-app.aspx?cid=DeepLink_mobile&amp;zip=33607&amp;devicecd=PC&amp;referer=www.aaa.com\"  target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">AAA Mobile app&nbsp;<\/span><\/a>for iPhone, iPad and Android. The app can also be used to map a route, find discounts, book a hotel and access AAA roadside assistance. At 534.0 million barrels, supplies remain well above the upper limit of the average range for this time of year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Domestic crude production increased<\/strong> 0.20 percent to 9.15 million barrels a day &#8211; the highest level since February 2016.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gasoline demand has surged<\/strong> by 3.5 percent. Demand is 3.0 percent higher than this time last year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gasoline inventories in the Gulf Coast declined<\/strong> from 80.0 to 78.5 million barrels. Nationwide the number declined by 4 million barrels. Declining inventories can signal rising gas prices.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gasoline production increased <\/strong>nearly 3 percent at Gulf Coast refineries.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Refineries operated at 89 percent capacity<\/strong> \u2013 an increase of three percentage points.&nbsp;This is a signal that refineries are nearing the end of maintenance season.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wholesale gasoline prices rose<\/strong> 8 cents last week.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Crude oil prices climbed above $50 a barrel<\/strong> last week for the first time in three weeks.&nbsp;The price for WTI averaged $49.31 last week \u2013 an increase of $1.46 from the week before. Friday\u2019s daily settlement of $50.60 is the highest since March 7th.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Regional Gas Prices<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Florida&nbsp;<\/strong>gas prices averaged&nbsp;$2.30 on Sunday &#8211; fractions of a&nbsp;cent&nbsp;more than a week ago, 1 cent more than a month ago,&nbsp;and 23 cents more than a year ago.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>most expensive<\/strong>&nbsp;metro markets are West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($2.463), and Fort Lauderdale ($2.426),&nbsp;Miami ($2.414)<\/li>\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>least expensive<\/strong>&nbsp;metro markets are&nbsp;Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater ($2.218), Orlando ($2.219), and Jacksonville ($2.228)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Georgia&nbsp;<\/strong>gas prices averaged&nbsp;$2.20&nbsp;on Sunday &#8211; 4&nbsp;cents more&nbsp;than a week ago, 2 cents less than one month ago, and&nbsp;16&nbsp;cents more than a year ago.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>most expensive<\/strong>&nbsp;metro markets in the state are&nbsp;Atlanta ($2.226), Savannah ($2.218),&nbsp;and Valdosta&nbsp;($2.196)<\/li>\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>least expensive<\/strong>&nbsp;metro markets in the state are&nbsp;Augusta-Aiken ($2.131), Macon ($2.133), and Columbus ($2.136)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tennessee<\/strong>&nbsp;gas prices averaged&nbsp;$2.07&nbsp;on Sunday &#8211;
