Distracted driving is the number one cause of teen driver crashes and teen passengers are the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aaafoundation.org\/using-naturalistic-driving-data-examine-teen-driver-behaviors-present-motor-vehicle-crashes-2007-0\" >number one distraction for teen drivers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all know how distracting cell phones can be, but driving with teen passengers is even more dangerous for our younger drivers,\u201d said Stephanie Milani, Tennessee Public Affairs Director, AAA \u2013 The Auto Club Group. \u201cMake sure all the teen drivers in your life know the dangers and how to stay safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_361972\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Teen-Driver.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-361972\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-361972\" title=\"National Teen Driver Safety Week is October 16th \u2013 22nd\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Teen-Driver-480x198.jpg\" alt=\"National Teen Driver Safety Week is October 16th \u2013 22nd\" width=\"480\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-361972\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">National Teen Driver Safety Week is October 16th \u2013 22nd<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4>AAA wants every teen to Be A Good Passenger by following these guidelines:<\/h4>\n<p><span id=\"\"><strong>Don\u2019t Distract the Driver<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoid unnecessary conversations.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid unnecessary phone use.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t pull the drivers attention away from the road.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Assist the Driver for a Safer Ride<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Silence phone notifications\/rings. Answer only when necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Adjust AC\/Music\/GPS as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate and stay alert to help the driver avoid danger.<\/li>\n<li>If you see unsafe behavior, say something.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AAA also recommends that parents get involved as their teens learn to drive by helping them practice in varying conditions, enrolling them in a driver education program, and setting a good example behind the wheel.<\/p>\n<p>Resources to help parents choose a class and coach their teen through the learning to drive process can be found on AAA\u2019s award-winning website <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.teendriving.aaa.com\/\" >TeenDriving.AAA.com<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>About The Auto Club Group<\/h3>\n<p>The Auto Club Group (ACG) is the second largest AAA club in North America.
