Tennessee Department of Agriculture says Invasive Tick detected in Six additional Tennessee Counties

Tennessee Department of Health reports First Death from Vaping Associated Respiratory Disease

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health (THD) has reported one death in a patient with serious respiratory disease associated with use of electronic cigarettes or other vaping devices. This is the first such death reported in Tennessee.

“We are extremely saddened by this loss of life and extend our sincere condolences to the patient’s family,” said Tennessee Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey, MD, MBA, FAAP.

Tennessee Highway Patrol - THPNashville, TN – Seven people were killed in traffic crashes in Tennessee during last year’s Halloween period between Tuesday, October 30th through Thursday, November 1st. That’s why the Tennessee Highway Patrol is urging all motorists to drive cautiously, buckle up, never drive distracted and don’t drink and drive this Halloween.

One of the seven vehicular fatalities during last year’s Halloween period involved an unrestrained vehicle occupant. Two motorcyclists were killed. There were zero alcohol-related traffic deaths. Last year, state troopers issued 398 speeding and 83 distracted driving citations and arrested nine individuals on suspicion of drunk driving in Tennessee on October 31st.

THD reports Six Cases of Vaping Association Respiratory Disease

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health has reported six cases of suspected serious respiratory disease among people who use electronic cigarettes or other vaping devices.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and U.S. Food and Drug Administration are investigating a cluster of severe pulmonary disease among people who use e-cigarettes or vape, with 215 cases reported to date in 25 states.

TDH Urges Providers to Report Cases of Vaping-associated Respiratory Illness

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is asking health care providers across the state to report any cases of suspected serious respiratory illness they treat among patients who use electronic cigarettes or other vaping devices.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating a cluster of severe pulmonary disease among people who use e-cigarettes or vape, with more than 150 cases reported to date in 16 states.
