TWRA announces 2019-20 Gun Hunting Season for Deer to Open November 23rd

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) announces that the Tennessee’s 2019-20 statewide gun hunting season for deer opens Saturday, November 23rd. Deer gun season has the traditional opening date of the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving.
During gun season, sportsmen may also use muzzleloader or archery equipment. In the newly-created Unit CWD, guns have been permitted since the start of muzzleloader-archery season on November 9th. The season will continue through January 5th, 2020. The second Young Sportsman Hunt is January 11th-12th, 2020.
Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance reminds everyone Open Enrollment Began November 1st on the Federally Facilitated Marketplace

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) reminds consumers that Open Enrollment for health insurance coverage in 2020 on the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) began Friday, November 1st, 2019.

Open Enrollment Began November 1st. Consumers Have Until December 15th to Make Changes or Add Coverage for 2020.
Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office Promotes National Fire Prevention Week

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) is raising awareness of the importance of home fire escape planning as part of consumers’ overall home fire safety plans during National Fire Prevention Week (October 6th-12th).
This year’s theme is “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” which educates consumers about the small but important steps they can take every day to keep themselves and those around them safe.

Montgomery County home recently destroyed by fire. Smoke alarms gave the family the time needed to get out of the house before it was engulfed in flames.
TDCI Approves Carriers’ 2020 Rates on the Federally Facilitated Marketplace

TWRA announces New Fishing Regulations in Effect, new Tennessee Fishing Guide available

Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s 2019-20 fishing regulations went into effect March 1st and anglers are encouraged to obtain the new Tennessee Fishing Guide now available at locations throughout the state, on the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency website (www.tnwildlife.org) and on the TWRA “On the App.”
Hard copies of the guide are available wherever hunting and fishing licenses are sold and at the TWRA’s four regional offices located in Jackson (Region I), Nashville (Region II), Crossville (Region III), and Morristown (Region IV). This year’s statewide and specific region regulation changes to are featured on page 4 of the guide.
Tennessee Gas Prices have Risen 3 Cents

Nashville, TN – Gas prices are back on the rise, now that the oil market is regaining strength. Tennessee Gas prices increased 3 cents in the past four days. Sunday’s state average of $1.998 was just fractions of a cent from returning above $2.00 per gallon, for the first time since January 1st. Click here to view today’s average price.
Pump prices in Tennessee are now rising for the first time in more than 12 weeks.
AAA reports Tennessee Gas Prices Sink to 25-Month Lows

Nashville, TN – Prices at the pump are off to their lowest start to the month of January since 2016. Gas prices in Tennessee dropped another 3.5 cents last week. The state average has now declined a total of 71 cents since October.
Tennessee motorists are now paying an average price of $1.98 per gallon – the lowest daily average since December 2016. Compared to last Memorial Day, when the state average peaked at around $2.73 per gallon, Tennessee motorists are now saving more than $11.00 on a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline.

As vacationers hit the road, they will find a quarter (25 percent) of all gas stations across the country are selling gas for more than $3.00/gallon. (AAA)
Big Game Hunting Closed in Mississippi River Floodwaters Zone

Jackson, TN – Due to high waters in the Mississippi River Floodwaters Zone, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced the closure of all big game hunting in the zone, effective Sunday, January 6th, 2019.
The Mississippi River stage has reached 34 feet at the Caruthersville, MO gauge. In accordance with Proclamation 16-45, all big game hunting is closed immediately in the Mississippi River Floodwaters Zone. The zone will remain closed until the Mississippi River state falls to 32 feet at the Memphis gauge.

AAA says Tennessee Gas Prices at 2 Year Low for the Holidays

Nashville, TN – Christmas came early for millions of Americans hitting the road for the holidays. Tennessee gas prices, which are already at 2-year lows for this time of year, should drop even lower in the coming days; after the price of oil and wholesale gasoline tumbled on Thursday.
Tennessee Gas Prices are 14 cents less than the average price on Christmas Day 2017.
