University of Tennessee Study shows Tennessee’s Uninsured Number Up Slightly, But Still Near 20-Year Low

University of TennesseeKnoxville, TN – A University of Tennessee, Knoxville report released today shows that Tennessee’s overall uninsured rate increased from the 2016 level of 5.5 percent to 6 percent in 2017.  Nonetheless, the reported uninsured rate is still at one of the lowest levels in the past two decades.

The report entitled The Impact of TennCare: A Survey of Recipients, 2017, released by UT’s Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research, summarizes findings from a survey conducted between May and July 2017.

Clarksville-Montgomery County continues to have Third Cheapest Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN – The 45.5 million Americans who hit the road this Thanksgiving will find the most expensive gas prices for the holiday in three years. The average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Tennessee is $2.54 – 40 cents more than Thanksgiving Day 2016. That amounts to an increase of $6.00 to fill an average size gas tank.

After shooting-up two weeks ago, motorists will be thankful to hear that prices at the pump are beginning to sink lower.

AAA reports Gas Prices Plateau after Unseasonable Jump at the Pump

Clarksville-Montgomery County has the Second Cheapest Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN Gas prices plateaued over the weekend, after an unseasonable jump at the pump last week. Tennessee gas prices rose an average of 8 cents in 10 days. Some of the highest weekly hikes were in Knoxville (9 cents), Morristown (7 cents), Chattanooga (7 cents) and Cleveland (7 cents). 

The state average’s steady climb came to a crawl over the weekend. Tennessee gas prices averaged $2.34 on Sunday, just fractions of a penny less than the day before. The state average is 6 cents more than a week ago and 31 cents more than last year.

AAANashville, TN Motorists may see higher gas prices this week, after oil and wholesale gasoline prices made solid gains last week. 

Tennessee gas prices rose for the sixth consecutive day on Sunday, snapping a 50-day streak of declines that resulted in a total discount of 35 cents. Gas prices averaged $2.28 on Sunday.

Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance - TDCINashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) reminds consumers that Open Enrollment for insurance coverage on the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) begins November 1st, 2017. As the enrollment period is shorter than in years past, Tennesseans are strongly encouraged to review their options and begin preparation for the new policy year.

Tennessee consumers will have access to marketplace coverage for 2018 no matter where they live. However, consumers in 79 of 95 counties will only have one carrier option.

Clarksville-Montgomery County has Third Highest Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN The steady stream of declining gas prices continued last week.  However, the rate at which prices are declining is beginning to slow, and pump prices should soon level out. 

Tennessee gas prices declined for the 49th consecutive day on Sunday, for a total discount of 34 cents. The state average only declined 2 cents last week. That is a stark contrast to previous weeks, where the total decline was 7-10 cents.

AAANashville, TN Gas prices keep falling in the southeast. Tennessee gas prices dropped another 4 cents during the past week. The state average has declined the last 42 consecutive days for a total of 32 cents. 

Gas prices are averaging $2.27 cents in Tennessee. Despite the recent downward trend, the state average remains 13 cents higher than pre-Hurricane Harvey levels. The metro areas with the largest weekly discounts in the state were in Cleveland (-10 cents), Chattanooga (-9 cents), and Kingsport-Bristol (-5 cents).

AAANashville, TN Tennessee gas prices have been on a steep slide for the last three weeks and should drift even lower this week. The state average declined for the 28th consecutive day on Sunday, dropping a total of 20 cents during that time. 

Tennessee motorists are paying an average of $2.39 at the pump, an 8 cent discount from last week.
