AAA reports Gas Price Averages Trending Cheaper on the Week Nationwide

AAATampa, FL – The national gas price average has been steadily decreasing for nearly two weeks dropping from the year-to-date high of $2.61 (on February 5th) to today’s national average of $2.53.

Motorists in nearly every state are paying less on the week with Midwest and Southern states seeing the largest price drops at the pump. Hawaii (+2 cents) and Indiana (+1 cent) were the only states to see increases.

AAA says Tennessee Gas Prices Drop 7 cents in 12 days

AAANashville, TN Motorists are seeing steady discounts at the gas pump. Tennessee gas prices have declined the last 12 consecutive days for a total of 7 cents.

During the past week, the state average dropped 5 cents. Sunday’s state average of $2.34 is 1-cent less than a month ago, yet 27 cents more than this time last year.

AAA says Pump Prices Cheaper on the Week for Majority of the Country

AAATampa, FL – At $2.58, the national gas price average has decreased for the first time week-over-week this year. Today’s price is 3 cent less than last week, 6 cents more than a month ago and 30 cents more than a year ago. Motorists can find gas for $2.50 or less at 53 percent of gas stations across the country.

“Gas price averages are less expensive for 78 percent of states compared to last Monday. Motorist filling up in the Midwest, South and East Coast are most likely to see the positive change at the pump,” said Jeanette Casselano.

AAANashville, TN Energy prices took a nosedive on the stock market last week and gas prices are declining as a result.

 Tennessee gas prices declined 2 cents during the past week. Sunday’s state average of $2.39 is 9 cents less than a month ago and 34 cents more than this time last year.

Demand Driving Gas Prices

AAATampa Bay, FL – Consumer gasoline demand continues to climb, hitting its highest point yet in 2018. According to the Energy Information Administration’s latest weekly petroleum status report, demand registered at 9.11 million b/d.

That is 70,000 b/d more than the previous week and nearly 170,000 b/d more than the same time in 2017.

AAANashville, TN – Gas prices increased throughout most of the country last week, albeit by a smaller margin than recent weeks. Tennessee gas prices increased by only 1-cent during the past week, but declined by fractions of a penny over the weekend.

Sunday’s average price of $2.41 is 14 cents more than a month ago, and 34 cents more than this time last year.

AAATampa  Bay, FL – At $2.58, the national gas price is four cents more expensive on the week. Across the country, motorists in 47 states and Washington, D.C. have seen pump prices increase as much as 9 cents with the Great Lakes, Central, South and Southeastern states seeing the largest increases.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports an increase on the week in gasoline demand and inventories.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Gas Prices Cheapest in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN Tennessee gas prices rose 4 cents last week. Sunday’s state average of $2.40 is 15 cents more than a month ago, and 32 cents more than this time last year. Tennessee has the 10th-lowest state average in the nation. 

Last week, stock market gasoline prices reached levels not seen since Hurricane Harvey passed over the Gulf Coast, causing refinery outages and higher gas prices. Based on current wholesale levels, pump prices could soon return to the $2.60s in Florida, $2.50s in Georgia, and the high $2.40s in Tennessee; unless market prices retreat this week.

Clarksville-Montgomery County has the Third Cheapest Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN Gas prices are having the most expensive start to the year since 2014. So far this year, Tennessee gas prices climbed an average of 9 cents. Last week, the state average rose 2 cents. Sunday’s state average of $2.36 is 14 cents more than a month ago, and 25 cents more than this time last year.  

“It has been anything but a normal January for prices at the pump,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Normally, demand slips and supplies build. However, this story so far this year has been a rally in oil prices.

National Gas Price Average Jumps Four Cents Alongside an Increase in Consumer Demand

January 18, 2018

AAATampa, FL – Gas prices jumped four cents on the week landing today’s national average at $2.53. According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand increased 164,000 bbl on the week to register at 8.8 million.

The demand measurement is the highest demand for the first EIA report of January since 2011. The demand increase is a contributing factor to this week’s higher pump prices.
