Pump Prices Down due to Drop in Gas Demand

AAATampa, FL – AAA says the Energy Information Administration’s latest demand reading for gasoline dropped to 9.1 million b/d, a level typically seen in the fall or winter.

The drop is approximately 800,000 b/d lower than the previous week and 400,000 b/d lower than this time last year. In fact, a reading this low hasn’t been seen for early May since 2015.

AAA says Gas prices see Largest Weekly Decline in Three Months

AAATampa, FL – Declining slowly but steadily across the country, gas prices are pushing the national average down three cents on the week to $2.86.

Today’s average is four cents cheaper than last month and the same price as one year ago. In fact, 25 states have gas price averages that are just a nickel or less expensive than this time last year.

AAA reports Crude Inventories Retreating after Recent Growth

AAATampa, FL – AAA says this week’s petroleum status report from the Energy Information Administration revealed that crude stocks fell by 4 million bbl to 466.6 million bbl last week.

While the new level is 32.8 million bbl lower than the level at this time in spring 2018, the step back is a reversal from the previous week that saw crude inventories climb by 10 million bbl.

Robust Gas Demand Continues to Shrink Stocks and Drive Up Pump Prices

AAATampa, FL – AAA reports that consumer gasoline demand this spring remains robust as stocks continue to decline.

In its latest weekly petroleum report, the Energy Information Administration revealed that while demand decreased slightly to 9.41 million b/d last week, the rate is more than 325,000 b/d higher than where it was last year at this time.

National Average Sees Smallest Weekly Increase in Eight Weeks

AAATampa, FL – With only a penny increase on the week, the national gas price average saw the smallest one-week jump since mid-February. For the last eight weeks, weekly jumps ranged anywhere between a nickel and a nearly a quarter.

“On the week, 30 states saw pump price increases or decreases of three cents or less which helped keep the national average relatively steady, but motorists shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

AAATampa, FL – Refinery maintenance season has hit some unexpected bumps in the road, leading to higher pump prices as the nation settles into spring.

According to new data released from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), total domestic refinery utilization – a measure of how much crude and other feedstocks refineries use to make various products, including gasoline – fell to 86.4 percent last week.

AAA reports National Gasoline Average Jumps a Nickel on the Week

AAATampa, FL – With an eight-cent jump on the week, at $2.62, the national average continues to trend more expensive since mid-February. While today’s national average is nearly a quarter more expensive than last month, it is only two cents more expensive than last year at this time.

“Thanks to increasing demand and tightening gasoline stocks across the country, March gas prices came in like a lion and will not go out like a lamb,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

National Gas Price Jumps Seven Cents on the Week

AAATampa, FL – AAA says that at $2.54, the national gas price average is 7 cents more expensive on the week and 23-cents more than last month. However, today’s price is just as expensive as the same day a year ago.

In fact, for the first time since the end of November last year, the national gas price average the past four days was identical or a penny more expensive year-over-year.
