2011-12 Hunting, Fishing Licenses now Expired

New Licenses Valid Through February 2013
Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s 2011-12 hunting and fishing licenses expired Wednesday, February 29th. The 2012-13 licenses went on sale February 18th and are valid through February 2013.
License sales provide the primary funding for the TWRA, which does not receive any funding from the state’s general fund (i.e. state sales tax). [Read more]

Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. ThinkCentre Desktop Computers recalled due to fire hazard by Lenovo.
It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Consumer Reports Index: Consumer Sentiment Drops After Three Straight Months of Improvement

Americans show little interest in spending more on retail items since holidays
Yonkers, NY – March’s Consumer Reports Index, a measure of overall consumer financial health, showed that the confidence of the American consumer is waning, with a drop in overall signs of mounting financial difficulty emerging.
After three months of improvement, the Consumer Reports Sentiment Index fell this month to 46.1, from 49.6 last month. Further challenging consumer confidence, The Trouble Tracker Index increased slightly this month to 52.2 from 49.1 in February, and is now at its highest level since August 2011. [Read more]
Tennessee Guard’s Maj. Gen. Mike Maloan retires

Nashville, TN – Memphis resident Maj. Gen. William Maloan, who served as the Deputy Commander, Joint Force Headquarters, Tennessee Army National Guard, retired February 17th, in ceremonies at the Tennessee National Guard Joint Force Headquarters.
General Maloan has served as the Deputy Commander since June 2007. He also serves as Presiding Judge and Chancellor of the 27th Judicial District for Weakley and Obion Counties in Tennessee.

Mazda’s score improves most while Ford’s falls the farthest
Yonkers, NY – Riding a wave of impressive redesigned models in the last few years, Subaru for the first time has earned the top score in Consumer Reports automaker report cards for 2012.
Subaru’s score of 75, two points higher than last year, reflects better test scores for such redesigned models as the Impreza, Legacy, and Outback over the last few years. The 2012 Impreza, which Consumer Reports just tested, now tops the small-sedan class and is the Consumer Reports Top Pick in that category. Subaru’s average road-test score of 82 is the highest in Consumer Reports analysis. [Read more]
